This book contains two novellas Sham-e-Firaq ab na puch and Ab Kabhi Sham Bujhay gi na Andhaira ho ga. Aneeza Syed is that the characters she creates are embodiment of goodness, piety and courage. Sometimes it is almost impossible to imagine that such people could exist in real world. But the bottom line is that it is pleasant and refreshing to read about nice people and happy endings. You often think that may be despite your hopelessness, there might be a possibility of such existence. Secondly her writing is better than many of her peers. Sham-e-Firaq ab na puch is a story of ideal man Humayun, who through his intelligent efforts changes the fortune of his family and even after all his achievements and the availability of apparently better marriage proposals decided to marry his poor and underprivileged cousin. Throughout the story, he has been portrayed as hard-working, intelligent, responsible, loving, principled, humble, strong and having all other virtues imaginable. Whereas Ab Kabhi Sham Bujhay gi na Andhaira ho ga tells about the misgivings of a daughter Laila ,whose mother had remarried after leaving her father. Her mother forced her to change her surname which led to her "identity crisis". Laila is a perpetually restless soul who has practically become a hypocrite in the process of trying to be at normal terms with her mother. This story has quite a few surprises. As she finds out some devastating truths about her mother, we realize that Laila’s life is even more complicated than it appears to be at first.
